TRACING/PRE-SUE REPORTS
Grant & McMurtrie act on behalf of a number of banks, finance houses and others in tracing individuals and, when necessary, provide pre-sue reports.
We offer a national and indeed an international service through alliances with various other agencies. All trace enquiries are commenced by our fully trained in-house investigators, who will carry out the preliminary research utilising databases and undertaking telephone enquiries, etc. With regard to investigations in Scotland, we will thereafter undertake the physical element of any trace investigation.

With regard to investigations outwith Scotland, we will instruct colleagues in England or abroad to undertake the physical investigations and ensure that the agents utilised maintain our standards.
Although the majority of our trace investigations are debt-related, we undertake trace enquiries in respect of other matters, such as the tracing of beneficiaries, lost friends, etc.

Trace enquiries in respect of debt, include a pre-sue report and we strive to obtain additional information which could assist our clients in enforcing a Court Decree or Court Judgment.

To assist us with our trace investigations, we are on-line to numerous databases, including:

  • Equifax
  • Companies House Direct
  • Registers of Scotland
  • Land Registry - England

We subscribe to a number of other databases which are designed to assist in tracing individuals.

Our investigators are experienced in searching public records, which can often help in locating individuals. In particular, we are experienced in undertaking investigations at the Register of Births, Deaths & Marriages, which is particularly useful in respect of genealogical investigations and the location of beneficiaries, etc.

We are obviously registered under the Data Protection Act and hold a relevant Consumer Credit Licence.
