CIVIL AND CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS We offer a full investigation service in respect of civil and criminal matters. This includes litigation support and intelligence research, as well as obtaining evidence through witness statements/precognitions. This service is obviously of particular assistance to solicitors intent on either pursuing or defending an action through the courts, although, quite often, we are instructed by clients direct. A number of other services we offer, such as surveillance, traffic and industrial accident investigations, tracing/pre-sue reports, will often come within the remit of our civil and criminal investigations. With regard to criminal investigations, although we do not specialise in criminal legal aid precognitions, we do offer a service to criminal defence solicitors. A more in-depth investigation service is available where required. We are regularly called upon to obtain evidence for prosecution purposes, perhaps where a client only has suspicions of criminal activity and not sufficient evidence to involve the police. We are involved in obtaining the relevant evidence of criminal activity and thereafter, liasing with the police and providing them with the evidence we have gathered. Our clients can often use this evidence with regard to civil proceedings. Our main role however is in gathering evidence which can be used before the civil courts and industrial tribunals. This can include personal injury surveillance, fraud investigation, patent/trademark violations and indeed, planning/licensing court investigations, amongst others.
